Captain Geoffrey Stewart's time at Winwick Manor was all to short. Born at Binfield, Berkshire on October 28th, 1878 he followed his father (Major General Sir Herbert Stewart) into the army. He joined the Coldstream Guards and served in South Africa between 1900 and 1902, receiving a Queen's Medal with clasps. He then served in the Eqyptian Army from 1905 to 1907. At the age of 32 in 1910 he retired from Army life having married Violet Watson in 1908. They already had a daughter (Jean Violet) and a son (Malise Herbert) was born the following.

In 1913 he bought the Winwick Manor Estate with the idea of becoming a Country Gentlemen but with the outbreak of the First World War, he rejoined his old regiment and was killed in action at Givenchy in France on December 22nd, 1914.
